What are the Param Kesar Saffron Benefits?

The Kashmiri Super Mongra Saffron, known for its deep red color and growth in high altitudes, is considered the most expensive variety of saffron in the world. Besides its rarity, it also offers numerous health benefits when incorporated into regular use. Packed with powerful antioxidants like Crocin, Crocetin, Safranal, and Kaempferol, this spice helps to reduce inflammation and curb appetite. Its antidepressant properties are believed to protect brain cells from oxidative stress and enhance mood. Some studies have also suggested that saffron may possess cancer-fighting properties and aid in treating Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms in women. Additionally, it is thought to act as an Aphrodisiac for individuals taking anti-depressants regularly and can boost immunity levels overall.

Why Our Saffron?

Param Kesar™ saffron, derived from the beautiful valleys of Kashmir, is appropriately named after the Sanskrit word for “Supreme” or “The Best”.

Approximately 160 crocus flowers are required to produce 1 gram of our supreme saffron. Each plant has up to four flowers and each flower has three stigmas, each around 25- 30mm long (each stigma). It contains many plant compounds (Crocin and crocetin). As antioxidants, these molecules protect your cells from free radicals and oxidative stress.

The high amount of crocin in Param Kesar™ is what sets it apart from other saffron varieties. Our saffron contains 8.72% Crocin, while others only have 6.82%. Grown at an altitude of 5,000 ft. to 6,000 ft. above sea level, it is the only saffron in the world with this distinctive feature. Our cultivation and harvesting takes place in the Karewas of Jammu and Kashmir, which has obtained a Geographical Indication (GI) tag from the Geographical Indications Registry. The GI tag recognizes products that have specific geographical origins and exceptional qualities and reputation.

Created Tasty Saffron Rice, Passed Authenticity Tests I'm reviewing Param Kesar™ Supreme Saffron Threads, 100% Organic, 1 gm.This is my first time cooking with saffron, so I can't compare it. I like to cook, so did a bit of research on how to properly use this spice.I created saffron rice, and it was a big hit with my husband. He repeatedly remarked about how much he liked it and had a second helping. I enjoyed it as well. This saffron passes the suggested tests to see if it's real. The threads are trumpet shaped and deep red, it gradually turned water golden yellow (see photo), the threads stayed intact after soaking and did not fall apart when rubbed (see photo). This saffron comes in a tiny 1 gm plastic jar. The tamper-proof seal under the lid was intact. The packaging date was June 2023 with a use by date of June 2025.At $8.98 for 1gm the price is on par with other saffron. As a side note, the country of origin for these Param Kesar™ Supreme Saffron Threads is India.

As intended I don't know about "supreme quality", but it works well for baking pastries.

Good quality saffron This is a tiny jar of saffron from India. The jar is pretty cheap and the cover was off when I received it. The saffron has a deep red color with slightly orange-red tips. I did the hot water test , cold water test as well the rubbing test and they all showed the saffron is real. The saffron has the typical earthy smell as well. I use them to make teas as well as cooking with them.
